Iguana iguana

The green iguana is known for its climbing abilities, as well as its love for sunbathing. Its sharp claws enable it to climb trees and bushes, looking for a sunny spot to sunbathe without being disturbed. The green iguana can frequently be spotted in the Butterfly Garden while sunbathing in the treetops or on one of the many rock formations.

Green

Why is it called the green iguana? It is really orange! That is correct. During the mating season, the head of some of the males turns orange. Their entire body can even become orange when they are extremely dominant. This can even outlast the mating season.

Did you know…

Does the iguana close an eye when you look at it? It is not blinking, but rather trying to make you understand that it does not want to see you. Is it beating its long tail? In that case, get away! The iguana is ready to attack and will do everything to win the fight.
